Understanding Circadian Rhythm

Your circadian rhythm is your body's natural 24-hour internal clock that regulates sleep-wake cycles, hormone production, body temperature, and other physiological processes. It's influenced by light exposure, meal times, and daily routines.

There are three main chronotypes:

  • Morning Larks (Early Birds): Naturally wake early (5-7 AM) and feel sleepy early (9-10 PM)
  • Night Owls: Prefer to stay up late (midnight or later) and wake later (8-10 AM)
  • Hummingbirds (Intermediate): Fall somewhere in between, with moderate sleep-wake times

Understanding your chronotype helps you align your sleep schedule with your natural rhythm, leading to better sleep quality and daytime alertness.
