How It Works

This calculator works backwards from your desired wake time to determine the best times to go to sleep. It accounts for the average 15 minutes it takes to fall asleep and calculates bedtimes that align with the end of complete sleep cycles.

The calculator provides three options:

  • 6 hours: Minimum recommended sleep (4 cycles)
  • 7.5 hours: Optimal sleep duration (5 cycles)
  • 9 hours: Extended sleep for recovery (6 cycles)

Choose the bedtime that allows you to wake up feeling refreshed and alert, ideally completing full sleep cycles rather than interrupting deep sleep stages.
